I was pleased to support World Kidney Day 2023 and attend an event organised by Popham Kidney Support. There are around 10,000 people with renal disease in Wales and many more at risk from this disease.
1 in 10 worldwide have kidney disease and, if left untreated, it can be deadly. There is no cure for chronic kidney disease, patients whose kidneys have failed will often have to rely on gruelling treatments like dialysis or a kidney transplant. Every day, 20 people are diagnosed with kidney failure and five people die every week waiting for a kidney transplant and Kidney disease is the 10th most common cause of death worldwide. Kidney Wales is eager to get kidney disease on your radar.
The drop-in session allowed MS’s and staff to learn more about kidneys, how to look after them, what symptoms to look out for and to find out how to get involved with World Kidney Day 2023.
