Rail petition calls for more evening stops (Cambrian News)

A PETITION which has gathered over 300 signatures so far is calling for an evening railway service to stop at all stations north of Barmouth.
Earlier this year the Cambrian News reported that the Cambrian Railway Group has been inundated with complaints that the new 8pm train northward from Barmouth only stops at Harlech, Porthmadog and Criccieth, with request stops at Abererch and Penychain, before ending in Pwllheli.
However, campaigners are saying the service, run by Arriva Trains Wales, should stop at the smaller stations of Talybont, Dyffryn Ardudwy, Llanbedr, Pensarn, Llandanwg, Ty Gwyn, Talsarnau and Penrhyndeudraeth.

Lisa and Steve Brooke, who run the Morlyn Guest House in Llandanwg, believe the evening service needs to stop at all stations which would benefit tourism in the area.
They said: “We at Morlyn, previously have had a contract with a Dutch Travel Company who organise train travel trips all the world.
“They run two trips to Wales – one being the ‘Great Little Trains of Wales’ trip and the other a ‘Round Great Britain’ trip.
“Imagine how they (customers) feel when they see the stop at which they must get off the train and the train goes flying through the station without stopping.”
