‘Disgusting’ public toilets are letting down the Tywyn seafront, Joyce Watson AM has said.
Joyce Watson, Assembly Member for Mid and West Wales, recently visited the seafront and was disgusted by the state of the public facilities. The toilets on the seafront have been the subject of much criticism by local residents who believe they let the area down.
Joyce said: ‘The recent work made to the seafront in installing sea defences has been fantastic and it is a wonderful stretch of coastline to visit. A visitor’s experience of the area should not be blighted by the existence of such unhygienic and disgusting public toilets.
‘I have written to the council to ask them to make drastic improvements to the facilities.’
Julie Greaves, who works at the nearby Town and Gown tea rooms, said customers regularly complain about the toilets.
‘Many of our customers have said to us that the smell in the toilets is disgusting. It would be nice if the seafront, after all the work which has gone into it in recent times, could be finished off by installing public toilets which do justice to the surrounding area.
‘The state of the toilets is letting businesses and the town down.’
