LABOUR’S Joyce Watson MS and Cllr Emyr Rees have welcomed the announcement of £1.3m for valley communities’ transport.

Commenting on the latest Welsh Government investment, Joyce said:

“As we emerge from the pandemic, people are eager to connect within and across communities – to see friends and family, as well as get to work, education and health appointments. The Welsh Government’s 12-month Western Valleys Transport Pilot will enable more people to do that.”

Cwmamman Town Councillor Emyr Rees, who is spearheading a campaign to increase free school buses in the area, added:

“I welcome this announcement from the Welsh government, particularly the pilot proposed for Amman valley. It’s a step in the right direction which recognises the real need to connect our communities across Carmarthenshire.

“However, families continue to struggle with the increasing cost of living and that’s why our campaigns – Better Public and School Transport Carmarthenshire is calling on the County Council to introduce free school transport for all pupils now.”
