Joyce Watson AM has visited the recently improved cardiac and respiratory and cardiac ward at Bronglais Hospital, Aberystwyth.
Hazel Davies, Bronglais Hospital General Manager, showed Mrs Watson around the reopened ward, where she met staff and patients.
Mid and West Wales Assembly Member Mrs Watson said:
“These improvements will benefit patients from across Mid Wales, and I was pleased to hear first-hand from our hard-working and dedicated NHS staff.”
The new Dyfi Ward – formerly Iorwerth, which historically managed patients with cardiac and respiratory conditions – underwent a series of improvement works then reopened last December.
Dyfi East now has a newly-modelled Non Invasive Ventilation (NIV) area for patients with complex respiratory conditions, and Dyfi West has modernised cardiac monitoring equipment for its patients.
The ward staff work as a single team, allowing them to exchange skills in the management of two distinct patient groups. The ward was redecorated with dementia-friendly colours.
