The award-winning Montgomeryshire Family Crisis has been hailed by Joyce Watson AM and First Minister Carwyn Jones as an ‘excellent model’.
The centre recently won the Social Enterprise / Charity award at the Powys Business Awards following the opening of its Cherubs Nursery. The nursery provides the centre with additional revenue, ensuring it is able to continue helping vulnerable people.
Raising the centre’s recent success in the National Assembly chamber, Joyce Watson, Assembly Member for Mid and West Wales, praised the ‘invaluable support’ offered by the centre to vulnerable people. First Minister Carwyn Jones also offered the centre his congratulations, commenting particularly on its ‘excellent financial model.’
Joyce Watson said,
‘I recently visited the Montgomeryshire Family Crisis Centre and the commitment and expertise of the staff was very apparent. In awarding the Social Enterprise / Charity prize, the judges commented on the team’s quality and humanity and these attributes are evident to anyone who visits the centre.
‘The centre is celebrating is thirtieth birthday this year and I hope it continues to provide invaluable care with the same commitment and compassion over the next thirty years.
‘The centre was the first organisation in Wales to provide a safe house for male victims of abuse. The establishment of the Cherubs Nursery in order to support the centre is a further example of the management’s vision and sensible planning.’
