I recently attended the Dyfed-Powys Police and Crime Commissioner’s seventh annual St David’s Conference. This year’s conference’s subject was ‘Policing by Consent: Addressing today’s challenges of rebuilding public trust and confidence to safeguard a legitimate future for policing’.
I spoke at the conference to ask the Commissioner and police what work is being done to tackle the safeguarding issues within the police force and to protect women. I have spoken on several occasions in the Senedd on the systematic deficiencies in how some police forces in England and Wales deal with allegations of sex offences and domestic abuse against their own officers and staff.
