Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant Public Hall and Institute will receive a welcome facelift, after being awarded £157,000 from the Labour-led Welsh Assembly Government.
Llanrhaeadr YM Public Hall and Institute will use the money from the Community Facilities and Activities Programme (CFAP) to demolish the old hall and replace it with a multi-use energy efficient building.
Joyce Watson AM (Mid and West Wales) congratulated volunteers of Llanrhaeadr YM Public Hall and Institute, which is one of 16 projects across Wales to share £3,042,548 over three financial years.
Labour’s Rural Affairs Spokesperson Joyce Watson AM said: “I’m delighted that Llanrhaeadr YM Public Hall and Institute is receiving this money, and I know it will be put to good use.
“The funding is a further shot in the arm for community life and the local economy during these difficult times.”
“It is important organisations at grass roots level are given this funding as they play such a valued role in society.”
Social Justice and Local Government Minister Carl Sargeant said: “Local clubs and centres can be the hub of the community, providing a number of leisure and recreation activities to bring people together and get them active.
“That’s why I’m pleased to see so many local groups and volunteers taking matters into their own hands and applying for grants to make their centre a better place for the whole community to enjoy.”
Since CFAP was launched in in 2002, it has funded 805 projects totalling over £87 million.
